Appointments
Appointments may be scheduled by calling the office at (614) 899-0000. We see patients Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., as well as on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Please keep in mind the importance of maintaining a routine schedule in your child's immunizations and physical examinations.
When calling for an appointment, please let our staff know the reason for your child's visit or the nature of his/her medical problem so we may schedule the appropriate length of time. This will help us maintain our schedule and prevent you from spending time on unnecessary waiting.
Pre-scheduled Appointments
Will be seen before same-day scheduled ill visits, except in the case of extreme emergencies. If you feel that your child is in distress, please notify the receptionist when checking in so your child can be accessed for urgent or emergency needs.
Arrival Time
Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your schedule appointment; this allows the physicians to keep their appointments on time. Often we have patients with urgent needs, such as a laceration, which would need our immediate medical attention. Most parents are understanding in this type of situation; we appreciate your cooperation and understanding under these circumstances. If you are scheduled for an appointment but arrive 15-20 minutes late, the physician has the right to cancel and reschedule your appointment in order to stay on schedule.
Work Schedules
We understand that it is often difficult for working parents to bring their children in to the office. If you have problems scheduling an appointment because of your job, please let our staff know and we will be happy to work together to find an acceptable time during the day to see your child.
Other Children
Often a parent will bring along another child to be seen without scheduling an appointment. For example: your physician may be examining the scheduled child and you ask the doctor to to take a look at your second child due to illness. The physician may choose to see your second child, but you need to be aware that the physician's schedule will then be altered. As a result, your physician may choose to see other pre-scheduled appointments and work your second child in as they flow through the schedule. This could mean that you will be in the office up to an additional hour before that child can be seen. You will also be charged a walk-in fee for the visit. You can usually avoid this wait if you have any indication that the second child needs to be seen by scheduling both children when you first call to make the appointment.
Cancellations
It would be very helpful for you to contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel or change your child's scheduled appointment, so that other patients may use the time that has been set aside for you. We appreciate cancellations 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time if at all possible. Please note that cancellations with less than two hours' notice will result in a charge of $25 to your account. More than three cancellations or "no show" appointments may result in the termination of our medical relationship. Appointment times are specially designated for each physician and for each medical need such as: new patient visit; well exam; newborn visit; illness; recheck; and special needs. All these appointment are scheduled at specific times during the day, so your cancellation does affect our daily schedule. We must know in advance if you plan on a cancellation.
Types of Exams
We follow the schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, with exams at 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 16 and 24 months, plus yearly exams after that.
Well Child Exams
All school, sports and routine well physical exams need to be scheduled in advance. Please have your child wear loose-fitting clothing. Please keep in mind that the months of July, August, and September are very busy for school-age children to have well immunizations before they are allowed to enter certain schools.
All children needing school forms, work permits, etc. who are required to have a physician's signature along with the medical information from the last Well Physical, will need to allow at least 24 - 48 hours before we can review the chart, fill out the paperwork and retrieve the physician's approval.
If your child has not been seen for a Well Exam in the past 12 months, our physicians will not sign any forms for your child. You will be required to schedule an appointment. Our physician will not accept the liability without an examination. Our medical liability requires this procedure.
Sports Exams
Often not covered by your medical insurance company, please review your policy. Many insurance companies will pay for only one Well Exam per year. Please keep the dates in mind from your previous Well Exam. Your insurance will deny payment if a Well Exam and a Sports Exam both have been given. You will be responsible for payment.
Allergy Injections
Allergy injections are given on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The times may vary from 9:00 am - 4:30 pm. We restrict this time due to the availability of our medical staff who have been trained in administering allergy injections. Please call in advance (899-0000) to schedule an appointment for your child's allergy injection. Doing so allows our staff to prepare for your visit and receive a signature from the physician so we may administer the injection.
Your child will be and is expected to wait 15 - 20 minutes after the allergy injection has been given; this is required by our physicians for the safety of your child due to potential risk. If you cannot abide by this request, we will be unable to service you for allergy injections.
You are expected to order your allergy vials as needed. We will not be responsible for this task, nor do we store your allergy vials. You will need to bring in your allergy vial for each visit.
